Where to Shop for Work Clothes in 2022: 11 Brands for Chic Work-Style

This past year has shifted our view of what “appropriate” office style consists of. Mainly because, for many of us, the office has become our living room couch, closet, or bedroom. However, we have to get real in acknowledging that the reality of returning to the office is becoming a real one! This upcoming transition means that the tie-dye loungewear sets that we once loved will likely have to be stored in the back of our closets and reserved for nights and weekends. And in their place? Well it’s now time to search for the business casual and formal pieces that we once knew so well.

Rather than seeing this as a source of stress, we can embrace it as an opportunity for a refresh! This return to the office is a chance for us to upgrade from our current style to our dream style. We now have the chance to create a capsule wardrobe or even hone in on our signature style if we felt like we previously lacked one. In other words, we are in a prime position to level up our style.

This article is the first of my “Where to Shop” series. It provides a wide array of stores with varying price points and fabrication quality. Simply put, there is something in this post for everyone. You don’t have to break the bank to look stylish in the office; many of these sites carry very affordable options. By the end of this post, I can guarantee that you’ll be able to find at least one spark of inspiration. Whether you are sporting a Wall Street-style corporate chic or a laid-back Start-Up Style, I have your dress code covered.

Enjoy this roundup of the best websites to buy work clothes from in 2022 and what you should consider at each one!

Cuyana

I first found and fell in love with Guyana because of its leather goods. Since then, I’ve discovered that the brand also carries apparel And accessories. When shopping at Cuyana, you’re guaranteed to find classic and elegant looks that are also timeless. Fabrication here includes materials such as organic cotton, modal, and very minimal elastane. Because of the tasteful composition, these pieces will last you a very long time if you give them the care and attention they require.

What’s more, is that Cuyana produces its pieces in places like Portugal using Italian Linens. Some items are hand-woven at home by Ecuadorian women. You can even find that your piece has made its way to you from Peru, care of a family-owned Workshop Collective. Each item you buy from Cuyana has a story. You’ll find comfort in knowing that the cotton is all grown, spun, and produced sustainably and ethically in one place.

& other stories

As part of the H&M group, you’ll want to check out & Other Stories in your Chic workwear search. & Other Stories will be the right fit for you if you’re looking for more tailored pieces as well as a good selection of blazers, trousers, and blouses.

Everlane

Everlane is an excellent One-Stop-Shop when it comes to high-quality Basics. The reason it works so well is that the brand prioritizes minimalism over complex design. While you won’t find the season’s latest patterns here (abstract anyone?), many of these pieces are appropriate for the office due to their simplicity.

you can also find nice accessories here such as handbags

I LOVED the concept behind their Day Heel as it quintessentializds the brand. The Day Heel was a low court shoe that could be used to dress an outfit up. It could be as casual or as formal as you wanted it to be! Everlane is perfect for the transition between a day in at the office and a night out.

LOFT/Ann Taylor

Now we love a classic! Ann Taylor was probably one of your mom or aunt’s favorite stores as the brand has been supplying women with Chic workwear since the 50s.

The good news is that if you’re looking for something that’s a bit more laid-back and casual but can still work for the office, you can head to The Loft, which is the sister brand of Ann Taylor.

Banana Republic

Most items at Banana Republic will run you under $200, which is lovely because this brand will serve you for multiple occasions! It is a perfect fit for women who work in more of a corporate environment as the brand has a lot of quality dresses, suits, and button-up shirts. If you’re looking for deals and discounts, you’re definitely in the perfect place as you will also find steals almost daily!

Express

As a brand, Express leans more toward the Casual and carefree side. They do have a good selection of affordable dress pants, suits, blouses, and shirts.

I haven’t made the plunge yet of purchasing something from here. Still, I always consider them when I’m looking for a specific piece or simply searching for classy and elegant items to add to my wardrobe but don’t be fooled! This brand carries things that can keep you up on trends as well.

ASOS

ASOS is another One-Stop-Shop if you’re looking for more fashion-forward, trendy pieces. I highly recommend searching on ASOS for The Season’s latest trends at a lower price point. I also recommend the line ASOS Design as the construction of these pieces tend to be of a higher quality. Though they are a bit more pricey, I trust the quality more than some of the other non-ASOS brands that the site Carries.

Mango

The Spanish fast-fashion brands are killing it. Mango is a must for building your work wardrobe, especially in the department of trousers and Blazers. Though the price point is slightly higher than your standard Zara run, you’ll find the perfect mix of classic items that you’ll get a lot of wear out of with style. Mango’s tailoring never misses

Zara

If you aren’t shopping at Zara at this point, I commend you because Tik Tok and YouTube together have everyone’s fingers on the pulse. As part of the Inditex group, this Spanish fast-fashion brand supplies off-the-runway renditions at an affordable price. I wish I was kidding! If the Internet loved look 37 of the latest Jacquemus collection or the new colorway of Chanel Tweed you will find it remixed at Zara. The internet works hard and Zara trend-spotters work even harder.

If you search thoughtfully enough, you can find some quality materials, especially in the shoe department. Zara is a great place to shop if you’re looking for Chic and trendy pieces from the latest season and don’t want to invest a ton of money. Zara also carries excellent classic wardrobe items that you can keep in your wardrobe season after season. For this, I recommend coats and knitwear. My ultimate favorite, however, is the Blazers. You can never go wrong with a Zara Blazer as the quality for the price is fantastic, and you’ll always find chic colors and patterns.

H&M

At this point in our lives, H&M has become a staple. You can find something for almost any occasion especially given the variety of diffusion lines that the Swedish brand carries. H&M can be a great go-to place for stocking up on affordable blouses, shirts, and even jeans, but because this is a fast-fashion brand, you’ll want to keep an eye on the material composition and wash instructions before you make a purchase, especially if you are looking for an essential piece that you’ll want to incorporate into a lot of outfits and keep for a long time down the line.

Uniqlo

I cannot write this post without shouting out one of my favorite brands.

Uniqlo is always reliable because the garments are of good quality but also affordable.

One of my favorite lines that the brand carries is their U line which Christophe Lemaire designs. This particular line is fantastic for good-quality t-shirts that wash well and can add versatility to your wardrobe. You can also find beautiful shirts and blouses tailored trousers all for $50 or less
